Barefoot Booties

Here are some super cute baby sandals made from a T-shirt.

What You'll Need:

- 1 adult size t-shirt (L or XL should work fine)

- piece of felt in the same color as t-shirt

-needle and thread

- glue gun

- fabric scissors

The How To:

- First trim off the hem of the t-shirt. Be sure to cut as close to the stitching as possible.

- Cut the hem into 3 strips. Mine were about 2  1/2 - 3 inches long. To be sure what size you need measure around the babies foot. ( I cut one strip to the measurement that I got around the ankle, and 2 from the measurement from the top of the foot)

- Next I stitched together the 2 that will go across the top of the foot. Just a couple of stitches will work....to make the straps look like an X.

- Then, I stitched together the ends of the straps to make circles. See the photo below.

- Next i cut 2 small circles ( that arn't bigger than the top of the babies foot) from the felt.

- Then glue the 2 straps onto the felt. Make sure that the stitching that makes the straps look like an X is not glued to the felt.

- Next glue the 3rd strap on (this is the one that will go around the ankle) at an angle as shown in the picture below.

- Glue the other small circle of felt on.....sandwiching the straps in between the 2 felt circles.

- Next comes the flower...it is also made from the t-shirt.

You can make you favorite flower to add or you can make this one.

- Cut out 4 flower shapes in different sizes from the t-shirt.

- I did a loose stitch in the middle of each flower and then pulled it tight to gather the flower. I did this to each flower and then I glued them together...one on top of the other.

- The I glued the flower on to the top of the felt circle.

Next make one for the other foot and then your done!

Now put them on those cute little baby feet!

You'll rock this shamrock

My kids pointed out to me that there is a lack of clothes with green on them in our house. So, I threw together a very simple way to add a splash of green to their wardrobe this St. Patricks day.

What You'll Need:

- Green Felt

- Scissors

- Marker

-White embrodery floss

- Needle

- Aligator clip

- Ribbon (to use on the aligator clip)

The How To:

- First draw or trace a shamrock onto your felt

- Next cut it out

- Then thread your needle and stitch around the edge of your shamrock

- Then add your aligator clip to the back. Click HERE to see a post that shows how to do this.

Now you don't have to worry about getting pinched this St. Patricks day. Wear it on your shirt, in your hair, clipped onto a headband, etc.

The End of the Rainbow

Who says rainbows are just for Leprechaun's. Here's your own that you can wear.

What You'll Need:

- Embrodery string

- Scissors

- Safety pin

The How To:

- First pick out your first color.

- Then loosely wrap the string around your wrist. Wrap it around 7 times total. Then cut the string. This is the length you need to make the bracelet.

- Next you will need a second strand of the string the same length as the first one you measured.

- Put the strings together. You will then need to fold the strings in half. Make one side longer than the other. Example: If your total string measured 4 feet then when you fold it to make one side 3 feet long and the shorter end 1 foot long.

- Tie a loop where it is folded in half.

- Now it is time to do a spiral friendship bracelet. If you don't know how to make that here is a quick tutorial.

- Use a safety pin and pin the strings to something to hold them in place while you make your bracelet.

- For this example I used 2 different colors of string to make it easier to see how it is done. The blue string is the longer string and the yellow is the short end.

- 1. First keep the shorter end of the string straight down while doing this. And the longer string keep to the left of the shorter end. (Each end should have 2 strands)

- 2. Bring the longer strand over the short end.

- 3. Now bring the longer strand under the short one and then bring it up (as shown in the picture above).

- 4. Next you will need to pull the knot tight. * When pulling the knot tight be sure to pull the end of the long strand to the right.

- This will cause the knots to 'swirl' around the shorter strand.

-Keep doing this with the long strand until the bracelet fits around your wrist.


- Then do the same thing with the other colors of the rainbow.

-Tie all the strands together at each end of the bracelet and then you can tie it onto your wrist.

We had made a bigger one (we used twice the length of string used for the bracelet) and made it into a headband. My kids are excited to wear their rainbows on St. Patricks Day.

Yarn Bracelets

To make this you need to have basic crocheting skills.

What You'll Need:

- Yarn

- Crochet Hook (you can use any size, but I used G/6-4.25mm)

- Scissors

- Old bracelets....bangle, jelly, etc.

The How To:

- Start with your yarn, crochet hook, and bracelet in this position.

- Next put your yarn over the hook. I brought the little end piece with it to help hide it in the bracelet.

- Pull the 'yarn over' piece through the other loop on the hook. As if doing a simple chain stitch.

****- Now, put your crochet hook under the bracelet.

- Hook the yarn.

- And pull it back underneath your bracelet.

- Then yarn over. You should have 3 strands on your hook now.

- Pull the strand of yarn that is closest to the end of the hook through the other 2 loops on your hook.

- Repeat steps from **** to here until the whole bracelet is covered with the yarn. Be sure to push the thread on the bracelet together from time to time to make as much room as you can for the yarn.

- Once the bracelet is full it is time to attach the end of it to your starting point.
- Stick your hook through one of the loops at the starting point.

- Put the yarn over on the end of your hook and pull it back through the starting point on the bracelet.

- Go ahead and cut the string of yarn. Now finish it off by pulling the loop closest to the end of the hook all the way through the other loop (pulling the end of the yarn all the way through too to) and then pull it tight.
- Now weave the end of the yarn into the bracelet to hide it. And trim any excess off that you could not hide.

Washer Necklace

Here is a way to put to use something you may find in your garage.

What You'll Need:

- 1 1/2 inch metal Washers

-Exacto knife or Scissors

-Scrapbook paper

- Glue (I used E-6000)

-Paper or plastic cup and plastic spoon

- A pour on High Gloss Finish (This is the pricey part of the project.....I used enviro-tex Lite)

- File (optional)

- Chain or string to hang it from

-Wax paper

-2 Wooden blocks or 2 small paper cups

The How To:

- First glue your washer onto the BACK of the scrapbook paper.

- When it is dry cut it out. Using an exacto knife makes this a lot easier....esp with cutting the hole out of the center of the washer.

- Next (is optional) if you wanted you could use the file to help smooth out the edges if they look rough.

- Then, put some wax paper down on the surface you are working on. And place the wooden blocks or small paper cups next to each other on the wax paper. This is so when you put the gloss on the washer it will run through the hole and down on to the wax paper.

- Now comes the pour-on gloss.

- I used the plastic/paper cup and plastic spoon to mix it. And I just followed the directions from the package to mix it. Be sure to do as it says. Especially when it comes to the mixing part. Mixing well for 2 minutes means mix fast for the WHOLE 2 minutes.....even if it gets bubbly. 'Cause if its not mixed well it won't set and harden.

- When I was done mixing, I scooped out some on the spoon and poured it slowly on the top of the washer in a circle. Adding more until it was even and covered the front side of the washer.

- If you do notice tiny little bubbles forming, do as the pour-on gloss directions say and slowly exhale on your washer to get rid of them.

- This is a pretty thick mixture and it should give your washer's edges a rounded/polished look. These pictures really don't show just how much dimension and roundness it adds to the edges.

- Be sure to let it dry for 48 hours before adding your chain or string to hang it from.

More Than Just a Hair Clip

This fun (and easy to make) heart clip is great for more than just a hair decoration.

What You'll Need:

- Red Felt

- Hot Glue Gun

- Marker

- String/Strand of Red Sequins (got mine from Joann's in the ribbon section)

- Scissors

- Alligator clip

The How To:

- First draw (or trace) a heart onto the felt.

- Next cut out your heart.

-Now, take your glue gun and trace the outside of the heart with the glue.

- Then put the string of sequin's on the glue that is on the outter edge of the heart.

- When you have gone all around the outter edge, keep putting glue on the heart as your go, and spiral in as you go with the glue and sequin's.

- When you get to the middle of your heart, cut your sequin string and add a drop of glue to the end to help hold it in place and to help keep the end sequin from falling off.

- Now hot glue your gator clip (or whatever kind of clip you like) to the back side of the heart.

Oh So Easy Bracelets

These bracelets make cute gifts for your kids to give to their friends!

What You'll Need:

- Ribbon

-Self adhesive Velcro

- Scissors

- Matches

The How To:

- First measure the ribbon to fit around your childs wrist (or your wrist if you want one).

- Next cut the ribbon a little bigger than you need so the ends over lap leaving a place to attach the velcro.

- Next lightly burn/melt the edges of the ribbon to prevent fraying.

- Now, if needed, cut the velcro so it fits nicely on the end of your ribbon.

- Then attach one piece of velcro to the underside of one end of the ribbon and the other part of the velcro to the top side of the other end of the ribbon.

- And your super easy velcro bracelet is ready to wear or pass out to friends.

Felt HeartFlower

Here's a fun way to use hearts to make a flower.

 What you'll need:

-Red & Green Felt
-Red Tulle
-Green Pompom ball
-Alligator Clip
-Needle & Thread
-Red Ribbon (Optional)
-Hot Glue



The how to:

-Cut a paper heart out of paper to use as a stencil.

-Fold the Red felt over and secure with pins.

-Place the fold of the paper heart on the fold of the felt and trace around the heart.

-Cut out the hearts.  You'll need 4 hearts.



-Cut your Tulle so it is the height of one heart and the width of 4 hearts.

-Fold the Tulle in half.  The fold should be in the center of the heart.

-With the needle and thread sew through the center of the heart on the edge of the tulle.






-Sew all 4 hearts through the center.

-Once all 4 hearts have been connected, sew through the middle of the first heart again.  This will connect the chain of hearts.





-Gently pull the thread so that the hearts cluster tightly.

-Fold back the bottom tip of each heart, and stitch the green Pompom ball into the center of the heart cluster.

-Cut two leave shapes of of the green felt.




-Stitch the leaves into place on the back of the flower.

-If desired, Hot glue ribbon onto the top half of the clip.  This will help prevent the clip from sliding out of your hair. Make sure to use ribbon with texture, like Grosgrain ribbon.

-Hot Glue your flower onto the clip.
It's done!

You can clip this flower in your hair, on a head band or even on your hat!
